[Fixed] DirecTV Media Share Not Working (100% Working)
The media share is a great feature as it allows you to stream media content on your DirecTV. For doing so, you will need an HD DVR. While using this feature with DirecTV, users around the world have faced many issues, and “not working” is one of them. If you are one of them then there is nothing to worry about as this issue can be solved very easily.
To fix this, either you will need to re-set up the media server or you will need to check the DVR. We have shared the fixes below, so be sure to scroll all the way down! And fix the not working issue.
How to Fix If DirecTV Media Share Not Working
Here are two ways that you can follow to solve this issue. After following, if you still face the issue then you will need to contact with the DirecTV customer support. Though Media Share is not an officially supported feature, the customer support might help you. So, let’s find out the ways now
Way 1: Disable Windows Firewall Defender and Reset HD DVR
The windows firewall Defender prevent the media share to function properly. That’s why you will need to disable it and besides that, reset the HD DVR.
Step 1
You have to find out the music folder. Most of the time, it will be renamed My Music.
Step 2
Then, try to copy some MP3 music files to that folder. Relatively, you have to disable the firewall defender. And reset the HD DVR by pressing the red button. You will find the red button inside the card door.
Step 3
After that, you need to select the ‘Menu’ button. Here you will find a ‘Music etc’ option.
Step 4
Next, you need to navigate the below direction one by one-
Menu > Extras > Music and Photos
Try to play a song. Hopefully, by applying the upper steps, DVR (Digital Video Recorder) will be connected properly.
NOTE: If you get “DirecTV mediashare renderer” this message then you can use this solution to solve. Otherwise, you will need to set up the media server again.
Way 2: Use TVersity Player
Sometimes, you can be restricted to playing some kind of formatted media file via DirecTV Media Server. Here the scenario will be like this- you see the media title on the Media Share but with a cross sign. This means- the file format can not be supported by the Media Player.
So, here you can use the old version of TVersity player which supports most of the media file format generally.
Final Words
Lastly, it’s not that much hard to fix the issue and make the media share workable again. Another thing you should try while fixing it, check the connection between the wireless video bridge and Genie DVR. So, that’s it for today.
